One of my favourite places in New York City... I can understand why Tepper from Tepper isn't going out would happily sit outside Russ & Daughters for hours.
The smoked salmon bagel is exquisite. Try the cream cheeses, the chocolate covered halva, the babka, chocolate covered matzo, whitefish, blintzes etc...
But if you only have enough money for one item it has to be the lox. The lox at Russ & Daughters is out of this world... as is the banter in the store.
Russ & Daughters is part of the Lower East Side charm. Right near Katz's Deli, Clinton Street, Stanton Street and other places on E Houston it's the highlight of a foodie heaven.
