On a foodie venture down south to the Fleurieu Peninsula, we ended up at the Willunga Farmers Market early on a Saturday morning. Still full from a meal at Russell's I started to feel hungry at the sight of local venison. So after a coffee it was time to get down to business.
Each stall was visited in turn, with a return visit to discuss the produce and a final round to selected stalls.
The Willunga Farmers Market began in 2002, and is now rewarded with the acclaim and publicity of one of the finest Farmers Markets in Australia. The highlights were the bread from Cocos, the cakes and sweets, all of the produce, and the cheeses.
After eating and drinking along the way, we settled down to a phone call with relatives over the border armed with another coffee and a bratwurst with chutney, sauce, cheese and onions, accompanied with a fresh stone fruit.
