Slow Food Australia

The Slow Food Movement was founded by Carlo Petrini in Italy in 1986. The Slow Food Movement is an international association that promotes food and wine culture and defends food and agricultural biodiversity internationally. The Slow Food Movement opposes the homogenisation of tastes and protects local gastronomic traditions. The Slow Food Movement creates Convivia (Condotte in Italy) which organise tastings, dinners, food tourism and food and cooking courses. These events also offer a discount for Slow Food Members. More than 800 Convivia are active in 50 countries including 400 in Italy alone.

The Slow Food Movement has approximately 83,000 members worldwide. The Movement has offices in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, America, France, Japan, and Great Britain.
