Back by popular demand, the passionate and deliciously talented Mamma’s from Chianti return to Moondance to share their joy and wisdom of preparing authentic Italian cuisine. For the first time The Mamma’s and Moondance will offer guests the chance to participate in a unique Chianti/Margaret River olive oil and wine tasting challenge.
During these gastronomic three days The Mamma’s and their husbands will reveal their culinary family secrets and the importance that food plays in their daily lives. Their insights and traditions will be compared to those of the South West region. Food to these Tuscan women is more than simple sustenance: food binds the family, promotes friendship, nourishes the soul, delights the palate, and serves as a source of lively conversation during endless meals.
Moondance guests can choose from a variety of inspiring fun-filled experiences including two Tuscan Master Chef Classes complete with recipes handed down from generation to generation; a seat at one of two ‘Tuttti A Tavola’ celebration dinners prepared in front of your eyes by the Mamma’s and Moondance Executive Chef Saul Atkinson; an educational olive oil tasting with Sandro and Adrian from Olio Bello and an insightful Chianti – Margaret River wine tasting with Franca and The Sunday Times Wine Writer, Peter Forrestal.
The Mamma’s - Mimma, Marisa, Franca and Lele are ‘Tutti a Tavola’ (“everyone at the table”). They are four Tuscan friends who developed a cooking school as a way of drumming up customers for their local bed and breakfast. When they are not conducting cooking classes in their Tuscan kitchens, they share their passion for cooking with others in international locations such as New York, Aspen, Sydney and Moondance Lodge, Margaret River.
Marisa’s husband Sandro Forcheri a Tuscan Olive grower, along with Adrian from Olio Bello will host an Olive Oil tasting. Participants will experience four different Tuscan oils, compare them with olive oils from the Margaret River Region and share feedback about olfactory and gustatory qualities of the various oils.
“The Mamma’s at Moondance is by far our most popular event on The Moondance Culinary Calender and there’s already a wait list of those who missed out on a seat last year. The passion and joy that comes through the Mamma’s cooking is truly inspirational, their food is delicious and we’re excited to share this special time with guests who attend” says Moondance Owner, Geraldine Reilly.
Those interested to participate and experience the joyful art of cooking with the Mamma’s can select from a number of residential and non-residential packages and events at Moondance Lodge.
