Amalfi Pizzeria Ristorante

Business Planning. The bane of the modern world. A drain on anything creative that is still churning around my brain. But if you can take away one thing from business planning, it should be...... a dinner at Amalfi Pizzeria Ristorante.

My fourth visit to Amalfi is probably the most satisfying so far. It has been a long day. The flight, the drive, checking into the hotel, facing another period away from home. But after a quick phone call it was time to venture out into the chilly night. After stopping by Mary Martin's bookshop looking at the growing Paul Auster range and thinking about Primo Levi I tracked back, passed the Cibo on the corner and headed for the deserted outdoor sitting.

As always Amalfi was bursting. It was warm, boisterous and full of energy. After being denied a table my hangdog face won over the staff and I was ready for a treat. First was a glass of Paxton Shiraz Grenache. Second was a small Americano pizza. I can't get enough of the bocconcini, basil, chili and pepperoni. And the famous Amalfi base is enough to warrant an interstate trip.

Already full from half a Qantas meal, I made the mistake of ordering an entree pasta for main. But the marinara proved to be incredibly fresh and delicious, and not as filling as I had thought.

As warm as the best Italian restaurants, Amalfi can be pretentious but is still a close friend to a desperate foodie. It is full of all sorts of Croweaters.

Miettas say:
Considered for some time to be the best pizza in Adelaide, whether for lunch or dinner it's always busy and buzzy. The pizza deserves its reputation, and there are also good pasta and main dishes to choose from. Amalfi carries that most potent of recommendations; restaurant industry people choose to eat here.
