Chianti Classico

Chianti Classico is an Adelaide institution. Fantastic quality ingredients and inspired simple dishes are the highlights. No trip to Adelaide is complete without a couple of slow meals, at least one lunch and one inner city dinner. And Chianti Classico is a great place for this slow meal.

At a recent trip we started with the antipasto. The Chianti approach was six morsels each intricately created. Although I prefer the usual approach of high quality ingredients almost untouched presented delicately Chianti focused more on the artistic creation from the chef.

The stuffed peppers and croquettes were highlights. A glass of wine and 30 minutes later and the calamari arrived. The flavour was not overpowering and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The calamari was a wonderful dish, made possible by the fantastic range of fresh seafood available in Adelaide.

For main course we enjoyed the seafood linguini and the home made egg pasta with proscuitto and peppers. Once again the dishes were not too large but perfectly compiled so that we were ready for dessert and coffee at just the right time. We finished off with a sensational zabaglione.

Chianti is a great place to take it slow and enjoy a truly pleasurable evening.
