If one winery was to be an integral part of your McLaren Vale adventure it would have to be Coriole. It has it all.
The drive to reach Coriole is beautiful. Past vineyards, undulating through the farms and wineries that make up McLaren Vale and into a spectacular setting amongst grape vines a hundred years old to a view from the lawn outside the cellar door that is timeless.
The cellar door sells Coriole's wines, Coriole's fanastic olive oils. Woodside cheeses and some other gourmet produce that can help with hampers. But the highlight is undoubtably the fresh produce served in the form of anti-pasto by the Coriole kitchen. Always busy, arrive early or book on a weekend.
Our platter consisted of spectacular bread, cured meats, some marinated vegetables and a series of delicious local cheese. At $18 a head the afternoon was unbeatable, the meal was filling and the value was incredible. To top it off Coriole served magnificent coffee.
