One of Alice Springs' most respected restaurants Hanuman prepares fine food for a reasonable price. The violet room is a pleasant place for pleasurable Thai and Indian cooking, although it is not an intimate restaurant.
Hanuman's has two menus, Indian and Thai and it is advisable to order from one only per meal. The famous Hanuman Oysters, Barramundi, Spicy Eggplant Salad, Beef Masuman or the Fried Fish are all good choices off the Thai menu. The Indian menu serves favourites such as Aloo Ghobi and a delicious Lamb Rogan Josh. The staff are helpful, although a little slow when the restaurant gets busy.
While some of the dishes are quite expensive, a couple of curries and a glass of wine is a cheap and quick meal. Hanuman's is an important member of the Alice Springs dining scene. It is a five minute drive from the mall, but a trip worth making if you are craving Asian food.
