J Café

A favourite of family and friends, J Café happily serves its (mainly Asian) diners delicious, simple Japanese lacking any pretense. The menu is focussed and comprehensive. The service is quick and attentive and all of the ingredients used seem fresh (except for some of the accompanying lettuce leaves).

The best way to dine at this Exhibition Street eatery is to take a utilitarian approach. Order everything that the majority demands. Gather a group of friends like Anu Singh did (see Joe Cinque's Consolation), preferably 10 or so, and order entrees and mains together. Try the fried oysters, the teriyake beef and everything else on the menu.

As a cheap, quick café-style restaurant that is competition to Russell Street diners such as Nam Loong (1) and King of Kings, J Café has a great atmosphere and is a very good choice.
