La Luna is a fantastic bistro in a bustling, vibrant eating pocket. The end of Rathdowne village is full of little eateries and La Luna is a favourite. Perhaps it is the way the chefs feed the staff from the menu, encouraging them to try the specials. Perhaps it is the gleam when a waiter discusses their favourite dishes. Perhaps it is all those curing meats that distract me on the way to the bathroom.
Whatever it is, I love returning to La Luna for the service and for the food. Everything is delicious, especially the anitpasto and the ribs.
Reviews on the website will have to take a different form now that I am writing from the culinary desert that is Alice Springs. A critical factor arises, how is a tourist in one's own city treated when returning?
Most people are disinterested, or alienated, from the issues that one confronts daily in the desert, leaving communications unfullfilling. At Lu Luna every exchange is a pleasure. The staff take interest in the world outside of the city, and the food is a reminder of a life that is very much missed.
