La Luna continues to serve fantastic meditarranean bistro food at moderate prices.
A recent family birthday saw people trekking into Rathdowne Street from as far away as Daylesford for to opportunity to spend a special occasion with loved ones. And La Luna is fantastic at creating an intimate but boisterous environment that this occasion requires.
We started with anti-pasto, calamari and cured meats. The meats are cured and were the highlight along with the dips on the anti-pasto platter. It would be great if the bread was a bit more substantial, but given the size of the mains perhaps this is wise. Foodie is not known for its moderation, but I baulked at a fourth entree knowing that I would wake up full tomorrow. Shock was registered at the table, but everybody moved on quickly.
A scotch fillet was consumed for main, with the roast pork, duck and gnocchi also sampled. The meat was rare with a rich balsamic reduction on the side, and of course an ample serving of mash.
Two bottles of wine and a many laughs later we stumpled onto Rathdowne Street poorer but happier.
