Another review, but a recent series of visits to Pacific House demonstrated the vast skills of the busy kitchen. A group of foodies starved of good vegetarian ventured down Victoria Street looking for a restaurant that would cook a vegetarian meal without onion or garlic. After a little coaxing the waiter agreed that Pacific Hosue would rise to the challenge.
Of course I had to try the roast duck and bbq pork, but the rest of the meal was pure vegetables. And what a feast. If one could believe that there is a dish on earth to top the silky bean curd and scallops, it was the silky bean curd without scallops, onion and garlic. The bean curd almost disintegrated on my tongue. Other dishes were the mushroom stir fry, vegetarian hot pot and bok choy.
If only they gave us a chance to digest our meal, but as soon as the formalities were over, the bill and fresh oranges arrived. Of course, there were 35 people in the queue.
