Chaotic Vietnamese restuarant in Darlinghurst, Phamish is Syndey yuppy dining at its most revealing.
The food is decent, with simple flavours and strong spices, although there is often a clash of ingredients. The highlights of the meals at Phamish have been the lamb curry, the squid which is simple and deliciously fresh, and the green papaya salad. The noise level reaches fever pitch on a Friday evening, with the kitchen working over time and patrons restless outside.
Phamish is a very nice restaurant. It cannot compare in terms of decor or down-to-earthness with Victoria Street Melbourne, but this is Sydney and when food is done this well it is difficult to argue against.
