Prince Rococco

Through miraculous means stumbled across this tiny French/ Italian cuisine hideaway close to St.Kilda heart. The Prince stands proud with its bold colouring of burgundy and gold, and boasts a highly romantic décor with candlelit tables and a cosy atmosphere. The cause of my being there, and among the significant reasons for Prince Rococco offering such a memorable dining experience, is due to the owner and head waitress. A most welcoming, interesting and passionate lady who is responsible for the creation of the home made bread rolls (almost brioche or as she puts it ‘scone’ consistency) which I declare to be the bread of the year.

My main of seafood linguine was good but overshadowed by my companion’s incredible slow cooked and stewed rabbit on a bed of greens and other delights. The sweet smell and moist tender meat led me to try his meal before mine. So with every mouthful of linguine my mouth watered and pleaded for more more more rabbit!

A very honeycombey honeycomb semifreddo added a sweet crunch to the end of the meal.

Pricey, compared to its surroundings, yet appropriate for this hidden Parisian paradise…Prince Rococco offers those who open its royal door a rare treat.
