The transience of the Alice Springs population has equally negative and postive effects upon the culinary scene. Several establishments can continue to set high prices on food that is of average quality because there is no long term loss of business. The constant influx of new residents does bring new ideas and inevitably starting a restaurant or cafe is one of them.
Rudi's entered the crowded Alice Springs pizza market aiming to serve gourmet or more traditional Italian pizza as well as several pasta, seafood and meat dishes. They do this well next to the Dust Bowl bowling alley. Rudi's has friendly staff that provide excellent advice and some good cooks that lovingly prepare pizzas. The Tronchetto is delicious, brief, rocket and capsicum wrapped in dough and covered by a red homemade mayonnaise.
The pizza topped with porcini mushrooms, proscuitoo and roasted eggplant is also delicious, the only complaint being that sometimes there is too much cheese. While the pasta dishes may vary slightly, the chefs specials are always delicious and the bowl of mussels are a must if available. Rudi's serves Alice Springs best French Fries.
