A local favourite, for 10 months to avoid the heat of summer, and for 2 to avoid the chilling winds and icy winter days. The Tea Shrine is a vegetarian cafe and tea house. The service is friendly and quick, although it does get busy (and slower) around lunch time.
The Tea Shrine offers daily specials, the Laksa on Fridays and the Roti Chennai on Tuesdays are favourites. Every day they offer the Cold Noodle Salad with peanut sauce. There is a peaceful feeling in the shop, perhaps becuase they don''t serve anything that has been slaughetered.
The tea is generous, they will happily refill your teapot. Other highlights of the menu include the soya nugget sandwich, the steamed dumplings and the range of steamed buns.
