Tokio is a little Japanese Eat-In or Takeaway near Bourke Street Mall. It is opposite Laurent, gazing at those cakes would test everybody's limits of self-control. At lunch hour is is peak hour. Any other time and Tokio is quiet and friendly. At these times the food is not as fresh, especially the gyoza, which are not comparable to Macchiato.
Miso soup was decent, but the Ebi-Don was fantastic. The prawns were crumbed to perfection and the sauce subtle. The meal was filling, reminding me how good egg is when fried in with meat or seafood.
Tokio is fun but forgettable, it exists because of the demands of the office world but given less constraints there are other choices in the area. This is perhaps a little unfair, as I have not tried the bento boxes.
